The Milk Market Limerick has been operating since 1852. Major redevelopment works during 2009/2010 have transformed it into an all-weather market, with larger markets happening every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays (and at other times). Here is a little about the regular markets.

FRIDAY CITY MARKET
The Friday City Market is a new market which brings together an eclectic mix of some of the region’s finest food producers and horticulturists to bring you the very best of produce from land and sea. It also features crafts and other products too.
There are over 40 stalls offering a huge range of fruit & vegetables, meat, fish, cheese, breads & cakes, preserves and specialty foods – making it a one-stop-shop for all the items you need to create that special culinary delight in your kitchen at home.
Flowers and shrubs also feature at the market. You can also sample some tasty snacks and “food to go” options.
Together with the Food Pavilion shops and 16 surrounding retail units, all open for business, the City Market is a vibrant, buzzy venue. You can buy or just relax and take in the unique atmosphere of a market, while sipping on a latte from Ponaire Coffee Company or tucking into one of Country Choice’s famous hot Angus Beef Ciabiatta sandwiches.

Lunchtime
The Friday market is an ideal place to drop into to enjoy a lunchtime browse and bite!
Open Late, bring home weekend treats!
The Friday City Market is open late until 19.00hrs so that you can bring home an evening treat, including ‘Food to Go’ snacks.


THE FAMOUS SATURDAY FOOD MARKET
The Saturday Food Market is the region’s most famous market which has been operating for over 150 years. It’s a real ‘buzzy’ market and a source of exceptional produce.
Here you’ll discover the very best of fresh, natural produce from great farmhouse cheeses and chutneys, just-caught fish and artisan meats, organic fruit & vegetables, to delicious healthy breads and fresh pressed juices. You’ll also be able to snack on gourmet sandwiches, wraps, pastries, chocolates, delicious crepes, soups and freshly brewed teas & coffees or buy fresh flowers and vibrant plants.

A haven for foodies!
The Famous Saturday Market has become a haven for all who care about the provenance and quality of the food they eat. From passionate amateur cooks to people on the look-out for variety and value or to those who just love finer foods, this market has it all.

But it’s not just the variety and quality of food and horticultural produce on offer that makes the Saturday Market so special – it is also about the people and the place. This market hosts a community of remarkable individuals from throughout the province, all of whom care deeply about the offering to their customers. Most of the stallholders are themselves producers who grow, rear or bake the food they sell. Others are importers with an intimate knowledge of the product they source from far and wide.
As it has evolved the Famous Saturday Market has gained a reputation as a repository of culinary skills, knowledge and understanding, all of which are imparted during the discourse of the market day. It is a place to explore, to ask questions, to discover new flavours and savour the unique atmosphere at hand.

Relax
Along with almost 50 stalls and 21 shop units to tempt even the most discerning shopper, the Famous Saturday Market also allows the visitor to relax, enjoy and observe the activities of this celebrated market from the vantage of the Mezzanine floor which is located above the Food Pavilion shops and accessible by stairs and lift.

Opening Times
The Famous Saturday Market is open weekly from 08.00 to 16.00hrs (except Christmas Day and New Years Day). Be sure and get there early to get the freshest of the fresh produce!



THE RIVERSIDE VARIETY MARKET
An all-weather Sunday market for all the family with stalls offering the best of locally produced arts & crafts, fine antiques and food to go.
It’s an all-weather market that will suit the browser and the curious where you can buy or just spend time enjoying the work of our finest local artists and craftspeople.
The Riverside Market has 36 stallholders offering a broad range of arts, crafts, clothes, jewellery, antiques, bric-a-brac and curiosities. For the kids there are often face painters, magicians, jugglers, mime artists and buskers, all providing an atmosphere that the family will surely enjoy. Together with the ever-present food stalls and shops, this Sunday market is a great attraction in the heart of Limerick City.

The all-weather Riverside Variety Market is on Sundays every week from 11.00 to 16.00hrs


MONTHLY ARTISANS CRAFT FAIR
Talented craftworkers offering excellent products from ceramics and woodwork to jewellery, art, bespoke furniture and more.
This is an innovative and exciting crafts fair, held the last Thursday of each month. It brings together a wide variety of Ireland’s artisan community to showcase their talents and sell their produce to attendees at the market.
The All-Weather Artisans Craft Fair will be held at the Milk Market on the last Thursday of each month. This is an innovative and exciting fair aimed at bringing a wide variety of Ireland’s artisan community together on a monthly basis in order to showcase their talents and sell their produce to attendees at the market.
The monthly Artisans Craft Fair has an eclectic variety of stallholders offering a broad range of excellent products including ceramics, woodwork, jewellery, hand crafted vintage clothes, cards, knitwear, bespoke furniture, art and much more. Together with the ever-present shops, this Artisans Craft Fair is a great attraction in the heart of Limerick City.

Children Welcome
Children are welcome and there are often face painters, magicians, jugglers and mime artists to keep them entertained.

Meet up for Crafts Market
You will also be able to choose from a variety of foods from the ever present food stalls which can then be consumed in the Mezzanine overlooking the fair whilst listening to live music.

The monthly Artisans Craft Fair offers a vibrant atmosphere during your lunch break, or a great place to visit and have a cup of coffee with a group of friends in the afternoon. It’s even the perfect place to go once you have picked up the children from school or the ideal venue to catch up after a busy days work!
