A la Carte Dinner Menu - Served from 6pm
Situated in the picturesque fishing village of Liscannor, on the main road to the Cliffs of Moher on the rugged West Clare Coast, Vaughan’s Family Award winning Restaurant with Chef Denis Vaughan offers superb fine dining with a wide creative menu offering everything from Seafood to Steaks to vegetarian options. The Vaughan family's traditional bar has great character, with open fires and lots of memorabilia - and it's just the place for some seriously good seafood at fair prices, either in the bar or in a newer restaurant area at the back.
Denis Vaughan cooks everything to order as all ingredients are fresh. On offer are about twenty varieties of fish, and sometimes the menu is changed in mid-stream because there's something new coming up off the boats. However, you don't have to eat seafood to eat well here - vegetarian options and excellent steaks are on the menu here too.
Cooking combines old-fashioned generosity with some contemporary twists: succulent fresh salmon, for example, may be a good thick darne, grilled and served on a bed of just-cooked fennel, with a delicious creamy samphire sauce, while perfectly seared scallops may come on a brilliant bed of crisp-fried smoked haddock & scallion mash with a frothy white wine sauce.
The menu is a must see, where the old world meets the new, with fine food in a traditional Old Style Bar setting. With Shannon Airport only 35 minutes away, it is not to be missed especially if touring the area. Well worth a detour!
